Ovidiu Banea
Neurophysiologist
Dr. Ovidiu Banea is a clinical neurophysiologist with expertise in applied sciences, neurophysiology, environmental ecology, sports medicine, and general medicine. He earned his PhD in Applied Sciences from Reykjavík University in 2022, researching neurophysiological biomarkers for rTMS treatment in schizophrenia and auditory verbal hallucinations.
He specialized in Clinical Neurophysiology at Hospital del Mar, Barcelona, completing his training in 2015. His focus includes EMG, EEG (neonatal, adult, and ICU), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), evoked potentials, and intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) in neurosurgery, orthopedics, and vascular procedures. He also trained at the Sleep Unit of Hospital Vall d'Hebron and the Movement Control & EMG Unit of Hospital Clinic, Barcelona.
Previously, he obtained an MSc in Essential and Applied Ecology (Barcelona, 2012) and specialized in Sports Medicine (Barcelona, 2007). He earned his MD from Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu, Romania (2000), where he had also completed a BASc in Ecology and Environmental Protection (1997).
