Invitation Comprehensive Advancements in Research and Exchanges for Neuro-Oncology
Dear friends,
It is a great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 3rd edition of the International Conference, "Comprehensive Advancements in Research and Exchanges for Neuro-Oncology,” CARE4NEURO-ONCOLOGY, organized by Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu, Faculty of Medicine, with the support of the Romanian College of Physicians and MedLife. The event will take place from October 23–25, 2025, in Sibiu, Romania.
The previous edition of this conference was a success, bringing together over 350 participants and 51 internationally renowned speakers, which has motivated us to continue this tradition in 2025.
The primary objective of this year’s edition is to emphasize multidisciplinary sessions, providing a unique platform for collaboration across various medical fields involved in the diagnosis and treatment of brain, spinal, or peripheral nerve tumors in both adults and children. Through this initiative, we aim to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and best practices, highlighting the importance of a holistic approach to neuro-oncological disease management.
The previous edition united experts in oncology, anatomical pathology, radiotherapy, neurosurgery, medical rehabilitation, psychiatry, internal medicine, palliative care, pain management, anesthesia and intensive care, ENT, ophthalmology, neurology, and radiology, offering a comprehensive perspective on the challenges and advancements in the field.
We are convinced that modern medicine is a multidisciplinary science and that oncological treatments must be personalized and tailored to each patient. Under this principle, we invite you to join us and contribute to the success of this conference.
The conference will take place at the same venue as the previous edition, at Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu, Faculty of Medicine, Aula Magna, which provides exceptional conditions for hosting such events.
In addition to the high-quality scientific program, participants are invited to explore the city of Sibiu, a multicultural gem of Transylvania, where tradition and modernity harmoniously intertwine.
We look forward to having you join us at our event, dedicated to advancements in neuro-oncology.
Warmly,
Dr. Claudiu Matei, MD, PhD

Anca-Ligia Grosu, MD, PhD, Medical Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University Medical Center Freiburg, was recently awarded the prestigious Alfred Breit Prize for her outstanding scientific research in the field of integrating medical/biological imaging into the radiotherapy planning process. The Alfred Breit Prize is awarded annually by the German Society for Radiation Oncology (Deutschen Gesellschaft für Radioonkologie - DEGRO) and is one of the most prestigious scientific awards in the field.
Dr. Grosu and her team developed a number of new methods that allow for improved precision in radiation therapy using biological imaging. Their research opens up an important pathway to personalized cancer therapy, enabling more precise targeting of radiation and better protection of healthy tissue around tumors.
Dr. Grosu studied medicine at the University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and then worked at the Rechts der Isar Clinic of the Technical University of Munich (1990-2006). After a year of research at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA, she became the Director of the Department of Radiology and Radiation Oncology at the University Medical Center Freiburg in 2007. In 2018, she was elected a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, and in January 2020, she became the Vice-Chair of the Leopoldina's Section of Radiology.
The Alfred Breit Prize is named after one of the pioneers of modern radiotherapy, Professor Dr. Alfred Breit, and has been awarded annually by DEGRO since 2012. The prize is awarded to recognize outstanding scientific research in the field of radiation oncology that is expected to make significant contributions to cancer therapy.
